Easy Peasy Birthday Card

You know what I love about Stampin' Up!?  They make color coordination sooooo easy.  It makes simple cards look like a lot went into them.  And speaking of simple cards, here is mine:

My sister's birthday is in December, so I've made a card for her.  I almost forgot, what with all the Christmas cards I've been making!  Anyhoo.  I love the words on the DSP, they add another dimension to the sentiment.  And the color- Watermelon Wonder- is fantastic.  Not quite red, not quite pink.

Lovely as a Christmas Tree

I am still stamping cards to get ready for the craft show.  I hope I sell some cards, but if I don't, that means I won't have to replenish my stash for mailing this year!  Today's card is inspired by this one.  I didn't bother with the dryer sheet technique, although it looks interesting, mainly because I don't have any dryer sheets!

Christmas Pines card

Howdy!  This card is kind of my own, kind of inspired by oh, about a dozen cards on Pinterest lol. Just search for "Stampin Up Christmas Pines" and you'll see all kinds of goodness there.  Here is my take:

Simple, and I love the shiny copper embossing.  Of course, you can't actually see that in the picture lolol.  I haven't got my copper foil paper from SU! yet, so I used a brown shimmer paper from Recollections.  I think it still looks nice, don't you?

Still Stampin'

It's still a bit early, so I am still stamping Christmas cards!  This time, I took inspiration from the third card in this post.  I mixed in a little Lawn Fawn paper (I love this paper pad).  I probably should have used a more solid paper for the center band, but I like the overall card:

Hey did I mention how well Stampin' Up! inks work with SU! cardstock?  I did NOT use the MISTI on that center tree, and still got a perfect impression.  I've had problems with other card stocks and inks, and on previous cards I had to use the MISTI to get a decent impression with this stamp set.  I wonder if other folks have caught on to this yet?

I used Lawn Fawn's Perfect Plaid Winter 6x6 paper pad, but the rest of the supplies are all SU!:

Warm Wishes for a Merry Christmas

Good morning!  Today is my Katy-dog's fourth birthday!  We are going to celebrate by going to the park today for a nice walk.  It's a little chilly out though, so first, another Christmas card!

I CASEd this card over at TAMS.  I really like the Sahara Sand with the chalk marker look on the snow flake!  I did change it up a little:

I almost left off the sentiment, since it has one inside, but in the end I think I like it better with.  I kind of wish I'd thought to tie it to the ribbon, though.  Maybe you can try it like that.

I realized I hadn't done anything with the Christmas Pines set yet, so I hit Pinterest and found this card.    And here is my CASE:

I more or less took her background and switched up some of the elements.  Now let me say here that I had a little trouble with my silver embossing powder.  Of course this happened right after reading a thread about SU! card stock not "taking" non-SU! embossing powder very well.  So I wonder.  It may also have been that I went a little wild with the embossing buddy because of the craft ink on the background- I didn't want any stray dots of embossing on my background.  So I'll try it again another time.  Any hoo.

Of course I didn't have any silver ribbon- groan- so I subbed Whisper White seam binding instead.  It's a pretty look, just not as all out sparkly as the original card.  And yeah, I'm still loving the SU! trimmer.  I only left 1/8 inch difference between the top two layers, instead of the usual 1/4 inch, and I still managed to get it right!  Woo hoo!

All in all, a pretty card but I still like the original very much too.

In the supply list, I listed silver glimmer paper and embossing powder for you- I used Recollections silver glimmer paper and Filigree embossing powder.

A Merry Elf

Another Christmas card done!  Here it is:

I don't know if you can see the sparkle on the white parts of his hat- Wink of Stella- but it's very sparkly IRL.  Kind of non-traditional colors, but I love the combination.

And I've come to another conclusion- I love the SU! trimmer.  I was using a Fiskars guillotine trimmer and I thought I liked it very much for card bases.  I also have a Martha Stewart 12x12 guillotine trimmer for cutting my paper long ways.  I don't mind telling you I hate the MS trimmer- it doesn't cut cleanly at all.  Any hoo,  I started using those because I had a slide trimmer before (I don't remember the brand, but it was purple) and hated it because it wouldn't cut straight lines and the measurements were so hard to see.  The guillotine trimmer cuts straight, but the measurements left a little to be desired.  For the life of me, I could not cut nice layers for my cards.  I started using Spellbinders Matting Basics dies to cut my layers because I was having such a hard time.  Well let me tell ya- the SU! trimmer is a slide trimmer that I LOVE.  Why?  It cuts straight because of the little hooky-doo thingy on the trimmer blade.  It doesn't wobble.  And the measurements are very easy to see, and very reliable.  I cut the card base and blue mat perfectly!  Little things like that make me happy.
