Four cards in two days

Forgot all about loading these cards up yesterday, so here we go.  The first card was CASEd from this card which is to say I copied almost everything because it was a new stamp set and I was stumped.  I didn't do a great job lining up the stamps- I think I will try this one again using the MISTI.  Here's my card:

Next up is a card I made from my recent stamp show haul.  I spent a few pennies (yeah) at the Heartfelt Creations booth on their froggy line.  So here's my first card with that line of stamps:

The first card I used Crumb Cake and Copper embossing powder on Very Vanilla for a golden look, the second card is Smoky Slate and silver embossing powder on Whisper White.  I also added the second layer of glimmer paper just for fun, but could have left that off.

My Project for Stamp Night

I'll be going to my Stampin' Up! upline's house next month for a stampy get together with other demos, and she asked if I would design a project for us.  Here is what I came up with:

Detailed Floral Thinlets

I love these thinlets!  They make a card so easy and elegant!  Here's what I put together:

See?  I just changed out Night of Navy for Tip Top Taupe, cut the paper and added the sentiment.  How easy is that?

And by the way, that is the SU! white craft ink with clear embossing powder. Turned out so much nicer than my last attempt, didn't it?  Still going to order their embossing powder and see how it works out for me.  For $5, why not?

Strength and Prayers

I looooove this stamp set.  It can be used for so many things!  Here is my inspiration card today, and here is my card:

It's pretty simple.  Which is something I like.  And it used washi, which is something I like now, but is relatively new to me.

In the meantime, I am having problems with my iCloud giving me my pictures that I'm posting.  Kind of irksome.  Ah well. To Google I go, to figure out what's going on.

eta: Turns out just turning off my phone and turning it back on did the trick.  Thank goodness it was something simple!

A Pretty Butterfly

Taking a short break from Christmas cards because I wanted to use another stamp set I'd just ordered- Banner Blessings.  I needed a little kick start, and found this on Pinterest but could not find the original post.  Oh well... kick start received!  I used the same color scheme but kind of turned the layout on its side to accommodate my sentiment.  Here's my card:

I really like this color combination- very serene.  And I love both stamp sets.  I also used another new SU! stamp set- Floral Phrases- can you see it?  I used it to make my own strips of patterned paper to layer behind the butterfly!  And you can't tell in the photo, but I added clear Wink of Stella to the butterfly for a little sparkle.  I also used a "grunge" stamp on the top layer behind the butterfly- it's from Club Scrap's Oopsie Daisy collection.  Thought I had a SU! grunge stamp, but I don't, so that's another one for the wish list.

A Foxy Hello

I really didn't think I needed this stamp and punch set, but some of the samples I saw were just so stinkin cute!  So, of course, I had to have it.  You know I'm addicted to stampy goodness, right?  So here is the inspiration card that made me order the set.  And here is my card:

Cute, huh.  And I think it'd work for a masculine card, too.  I used a few different things, because I didn't have all the supplies she had, and changed up the color scheme a little bit.  I think it turned out great. I have fallen for the fox lol.

A Hero Arts Christmas card

I'm off today, with nothing to do but laundry and clean the house.  So of course I am procrastinating! Here's what I did this morning:

I like it.  I even managed to get a little bling on there!  And you can't see it, but there's a little Wink of Stella on the small ornament.  The centers of the ornaments are popped up, and each snowflake has some bling on the center and ends.  I chose colors that ended up a little darker than I'd expected, especially the purple and green.  Next time I'll go a little lighter.

Do you desire Die'sire cutting dies?

OK, so I found this die at Tuesday Morning for a great deal- only $6.  It's so intricate, I thought for sure I'd really like the end result.  Here are my cards:

I can't decide if I like the white on blue better or the blue on white.  Either way, it's a nice card.  Now a word about the die:  It doesn't cut well, even with the precision base plate.  I'm so used to dies cutting and popping out perfectly that this one was a little frustrating.  I even used the Spellbinders die brush, to no avail.  It worked better on the white card stock, which is heavier weight than the SU! card stock, but I still had a lot of work to do, carefully poking out all the little pieces,

So- I don't know that I'll purchase another Die'sire die.  But they are so pretty!

Forgot all about these two!

So excited about the last four cards that I completely forgot I'd made two others lol.

Here's the first inspiration card, again using the SU! Floral Boutique products, and here is my almost complete copy:

I used a different stamp set, SSS's Forever After, because they had sentiments that better fit for my parents' 39th wedding anniversary.

And the third card in this post was my inspiration for this card:

I like it, but I think I could add a lil sumpin to it.  One thing I know for sure- I need a better detail white embossing powder than the one I have.  I ended up using SSS white pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  Now that I have SU's Whisper White craft ink, I'll have to try that.  Still need detail embossing powder though.  I did change the sentiment a bit- cut it out with SSS Frames die set. And I colored with Copics instead of colored pencils.  There ya go.

So here's how CASEing works...

When you feel a little short on mojo, or completely overwhelmed by the pretty new things you just got from Stampin' Up! (lol) you sometimes need a starting point.  Sketches are one place to start, but I occasionally need a lil bigger bump.  Hence the CASE.  Case in point- this inspiration card that is so pretty and simple that I can't believe I didn't think of it myself.  But I'm a little DSP-challenged; that is to say, completely intimidated by DSP!  I hate that first cut into the pretty paper!  But when you have a clear vision of the result, it gets easy.  So here's my first CASE:

Pretty much the same, except I made it monochromatic and left off the baker's twine.  OK, I just forgot the baker's twine.  And I used a sheet of my precious Whisper White card stock- because I just got my new package of it in.  It really does make a difference when stamping with SU! inks, especially solid or solid-ish images like the floral in the sentiment piece.  Encouraged by this pretty turnout, I did another:

Exact same layout and materials, except I made it a congrats card for a nephew who just got engaged. As an afterthought, I added a Dream paperclip I'd been hoarding for over a year.

That led to this:

Same layout, but using my Stamps of Life August 2015 kit.  I liked it, but I felt I could have done better with the sentiment.  So I made this next:

Ta da!  Four cards, each building on what I'd learned from the last.  And an added bonus: I used up all the word paper clips I had in my stash!

CASEing a Birthday Card

Well, I started off thinking I would make my dad's birthday card but I think this turned out a little feminine for him.  I may try it again with different colors.  Here's the inspiration card and here is my card:

Yeah, kind of a near miss.  I could have added more balloons, or used a different birthday sentiment- this one was the boldest one I could find in my stash.  I am trying to use up all my Paper Studio white heavy weight card stock, but boy is it taking me a little while.  I still have half a stack left.  Why in such a hurry?  Because SU! inks and papers work better together.  See the pink balloon?  Looks like it's been shot.  That's because the ink kind of puddled on the white card stock.  Doesn't do that on SU card stock.

I've been searching eBay for the stamp set- Happy Birthday Everyone- and I can find it but I can't get eBay to work for me.  I hit bid, buy it now, add to cart... and I get nowhere.  Something is wrong, probably operator error.  I'll try again later.

Stamp of Approval cards

So I am going through all my Christmas stamps and trying to use them all.  This means that when I look at a set, if inspiration doesn't immediately hit, I look up the stamp set on Pinterest and see what others have done.  In this case, I did a shameless complete CASE of Lisa Harrolle's design.  Except I did leave off the string, because I couldn't get it to tie pretty.  Here's my card:

Simple, and MAILABLE.  Yep, it's perfectly flat and won't need extra postage due to heavy layers.  Now that I think of it, that's another reason not to tie a bow on it.  The white line around the background is not on the stamp- it's because I used a die to cut the layer before stamping.

Again with the photography.  These cards are so pretty IRL.  The sentiment says, "have a blessed Christmas".  Very simple, very pretty.  I love that Lawn Fawn pad of paper!

A Very Meowy Christmas card

I'm off today, so expect to see a few cards!  Here's my first one of the day:

Again my photography fails me, but I think you get the gist.  I was gonna embellish a lil more, but I love the shimmery green of the card stock and don't really want to cover it up.  Plus I'm out of embellishing ideas.  So there's that.

While I was coloring the tree, I had a lil oopsie and had to do it over.  What kind of oopsie?  The marker starting running all over my card!  No idea what made it do that, but so glad I had an extra card front to work with.  Has that ever happened to you before?

I kind of had something like this in mind anyway.  The inspiration card told me to stamp some trees in the background!  I did add an extra layer and finished everything up with a stitched detail.

Four more Not Christmas Cards

So I'm still in my jammies.  It's working on noon.  I know I should shower and dress, but I'm having fun stamping my cards!

Here's what I've done this morning:

Really simple note cards.  And really cute.  This is when CAS is a win.

And I had to dig another tool out of my stash- the Stamp-A-Majig.  Why, you ask?  Well, because when I ordered this stamp set, I accidentally ordered the wood mount instead of the clear mount.  Oh well.  Still so easy to put those sentiments exactly where I want them!

This card is obviously like the last card I posted, just different colors.  The blue and silver are quite elegant, but I think I actually like the red and gold better.  Go figure.

New Stampin' Up! Haul

OK, so did I mention that I decided to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator?  Yup.  It's my thing now.  Partly because I think it'd be a great way to meet new crafters and partly because I really love Stampin' Up! products.  I love them so much that I just had to have all the colors in ink, paper, and markers lol.  And, of course, some new stamps.  And dies.  Oh gosh.  What a haul... it came in two big boxes today - almost as good as Christmas!!!  Good thing I got that demonstrator discount!

So what did I do with all this stamping goodness?  Made a Christmas card, of course.  One of many to come.

Simple, but so pretty.  And I love how the Cherry Cobbler ink matches the Cherry Cobbler paper.  There's a lot to be said for Stampin' Up! if you have OCD-ish tendencies in your crafting like I do.  It makes me happy when things coordinate!

Not a Christmas card

My deacon will be having surgery on the 20th, so this is the card I've made him.  Thanks to Jennifer McGuire, of course, who provided the inspiration.

I CASE'd everything except how she finished the card.  And let me just tell you, the ink blending was difficult- the masking paper wouldn't sit still!  That's why my leaf is so blotchy.  But I like it anyway.

A Joyful Christmas card

So here is my inspiration card, and here is my card:

I didn't wake up until almost 9:00 this morning, which is not bad considering I was up from four to almost six.

I got this cardinal set from Stampin' Up! because I couldn't get my hands on Hero Arts' Color Layering Cardinal yet.  I think I like it enough to just be happy with it.  I can't wait until my Stampin' Up! inks and papers get here, though.  I'd have liked a little darker red ink to match the paper I used.  Oh well.
